Dear Chemistry Majors:


The Department of Chemistry is pleased to announce two undergraduate scholarships for students majoring in chemistry.  The ACS-Hach Land Grant Undergraduate Scholarship provides financial assistance to chemistry majors whose career interests are in teaching high school chemistry.  Students are selected using the following criteria: chemistry aptitude, interest, and need.  The department will review all applications and select 2 students for the $10,000.00 scholarships that are renewable through their senior year.  Renewal is contingent upon maintaining satisfactory academic and professional progress at or above the level at the time of initial selection.  

 

Criteria:

  1. Recipients must be chemistry majors
  2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  3. U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  4. Career path: high school chemistry teacher

 

To apply for the scholarship, please send:

  1. A current unofficial transcript
  2. A letter of recommendation/support from a faculty member or education professional who can comment on your potential as a high school chemistry teacher
  3. A letter detailing your career goals which includes your motivation to pursue a career teaching high school chemistry, and the steps you have/are taking to prepare for this career (i.e., the experiences and opportunities you have pursued/continue to pursue to cultivate the necessary skills needed for your career.
